With all that is going on in our world today, one conversation has become a hot topic with family, friends, and groups all over the world discussing the signs of the end times..what will happen before Christ returns. Though nobody will know or can predict the exact time or day of Christs return we can get a pretty good idea of when it will happen by keeping a close watch on what the Holy Bible tells us will happen and what is happening in this day and age. As servants of our Lord Jesus Christ we are to be watchful, always praying, and waiting for His return which means we need to keep up with news and current events as well. This study is designed to clear up the confusion that abounds when it comes to understanding what is to come before Christ’s return and covers details about the signs we need to watch for which indicate that the second coming is fast approaching so that we can prepare ourselves and warn our family and friend’s so that we will be prepared, ready and waiting for His return.
Signs of the end times: What Jesus said
Jesus talked to His disciples about things to come and events that would occur before the end of the world in Matthew chapter 24.
Jesus disciples came to show Jesus the buildings of the temple

And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. Matt. 24:1

Massive destruction on earth
Jesus said that every stone will be thrown down which indicates massive destruction on earth.

And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? Verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. Matt 24:2

Signs Jesus said to look for:
The disciples asked Jesus what signs they should look for that would mean the end of the world was at hand, these are the same signs that we need to watch for today!

And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and the end of the world? Matt. 24:3

Jesus warns that people will try to deceive you by saying that they are Christ

And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. Matt. 24:4

People will pretend to be Jesus Christ

For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. Matt. 24:5

There will be wars and rumors of wars-Don't be troubled by these signs:
Jesus says that we are not to be troubled by these signs because these things must happen in order for Him to return. When you hear of wars and rumors of wars, of nations rising against nation, it is an early sign that the end is coming but is not yet here because more things will happen before Jesus returns.

And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. Matt. 24:6

Famines, pestilences, and earthquakes happening worldwide
There will be famines (lack of food), pestilences (fatal epidemic diseases around the world), and earthquakes! These things are happening in the world today! The beginning of the end times is clear, people will claim to be Christ, there will be wars and rumours of wars, and there will be famine (starvation), pestilences (fatal, epidemic diseases), and earthquakes all around the world.
Nation will rise against Nation

For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. Matt. 24:7

This is just the beginning of the End Times!

All these are the beginning of sorrows. Matt. 24:8

Christ’s followers are hated, tortured, and killed

Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my names sake. Matt. 24:9

People will turn against and hate each other

And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. Matt. 24:10

False prophets will deceive many people

And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. Matt. 24:11

Immoral and grossly unfair behavior will be rampant which will cause love to grow cold

And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. Matt. 24:12

There is hope because those of us who endure and survive all these things will, in fact, be saved!

But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. Matt. 24:13

The gospel of the kingdom will be preached worldwide
The gospel will be taught world wide, every single person will have a chance to be saved. After this happens the end will come.

And this gospel of the kingdom will be proclaimed throughout the whole world as a testimony to all nations, and then the end will come. Matt. 24:14

The Abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel concerning the end times
The abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet (Daniel chapter 11) will happen and the people who are in Judaea will flee into the mountains!

When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:) Matt. 24:15

People who are in Judaea will flee into the mountains

Then let them which be in Judaea flee into the mountains: Matt. 24:16

Take flight for protection-Flee to the Holy Place
When the Lord returns you will need to go to the Holy place, flee into the mountains for protection. You will need to leave everything behind. There will not be time enough to grab your personal material possessions.

Let him which is on the housetop not come down to take anything out of his house: Matt. 24:17
Neither let him that is in the field return back to take his clothes. Matt. 24:18
And woe unto them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days! Matt. 24:19
But pray ye that your flight be not in the winter, neither on the sabbath day: Matt. 24:20

The worst trouble and suffering ever known since the beginning of time-will come

For then shall be great tribulation, such as was not since the beginning of the world to this time, no, nor ever shall be. Matt. 24:21

The amount of days that this torture would last will be shortened to spare the elect any more suffering.
Days will be shortened for the elects sake
Trouble and suffering will be so severe the Lord will make the amount of days to suffer less because if he does not lessen the days there will be no people made of flesh and blood left alive.

And except those days should be shortened, there should no flesh be saved: but for the elect’s sake those days shall be shortened. Matt. 24:22

Warnings from Christ about people who say they have seen Him and false prophets
If people tell you they have seen Christ here or there you should not believe them. Some will come and are here already teaching false doctrines. Do not be fooled by deceivers.

Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is Christ, or there; believe it not. Matt. 24:23

For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect. Matt. 24:24
Behold, I have told you before. Matt. 24:25
Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the desert; go not forth: behold, he is in the secret chambers; believe it not. Matt. 24:26

Christ will come from the East
When Christ returns He will come in the clouds from the East and everyone will be able to see Him-even in the West.

For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the son of man be. Matt. 24:27

For wheresoever the carcase is, there will the eagles be gathered together. Matt. 24:28

The sun and the moon will go dark and the stars will fall from the sky after this time of tribulation

Immediately after the tribulation of those days shall the sun be darkened, and the moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall fall from heaven, and the powers of the heavens shall be shaken: Matt. 24:29

When Christ will come

And then shall appear the sign of the Son of man in heaven: and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn, and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory. Matt. 24:30

Angels will gather Christ’s elect from the four winds and one end of heaven to the other

And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other. Matt. 24:31

Watch for the signs that the Lord is coming!

Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: Matt. 24:32

So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Matt. 24:32
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Matt. 24:33

The words of Jesus Christ are forever

Heaven and earth shall pass away but my words will not pass away. Matt. 24:34

When will Christ return?
Nobody knows the exact hour and day of Christ’s return except God the Father

But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Matt. 24:36

The world will be full of sin
The world will be full of sin just as it were in the days of Noah before the flood.

But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matt. 24:37
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark. Matt. 24:38

Nobody will know when the Lord will come until it happens

And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matt. 24:39

Some people will be taken and others will be left behind

Then shall two be in the field; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Matt. 24:40
Two women shall be grinding at the mill; the one shall be taken, and the other left. Matt. 24:4

Watch for the Lord’s return so that He finds you doing good and not evil!

Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. Matt. 24:42
But know this, that if the goodman of the house had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched and not have suffered his house to be broken up. Matt. 24:43
Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh. Matt. 24:44

If you are found taking care of your household when Christ returns you will be blessed
Be a faithful and wise servant by taking care of your household because if the Lord returns and finds you taking care of your household the Lord will reward you, you will be blessed,

Who then is a faithful and wise servant, whom his lord have made ruler over his household, to give them meat in due season? Matt. 24:45

Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing. Matt. 24:46

Verily I say unto you, That he shall make him ruler over all his goods. Matt. 24:47

If the Lord returns and finds you doing evil or drunk you will be cut into pieces

But and if that evil servant shall say in his heart, My lord delayeth his coming; Matt. 24:48
And shall begin to smite his fellow servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken; Matt. 24:49
The lord of that servant shall come in a day when he looketh not for him, and in an hour that he is not aware of, Matt. 24:50
And shall cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with the hypocrites: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matt. 24:51
