There are many prophets throughout history but not all of them are in the bible. This list is the 55 prophets of Israel. Of the 55 prophets 7 of them are women. It was under debate whether Daniel should be included in this list of prophets according to the Rashi but we have included Daniel because of his prophecies.
46 Male Prophets of Israel
1. Abraham The father of many nations-he had two sons Ishmael born from his wife Sarah's handmaiden Hagar because Sarah was barren. After Sarah died he married Keturah and had more children. Later God opened her womb and she had Isaac. Abraham was called Abram until God changed his name to Abraham when God established His covenant with Abraham promising to make him a great nation. Abraham acknowledged his covenant with God by circumcising all of the males of his household. Abraham defeated four kings and was called "Priest of the Most High God" by Melchizedek. The Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ) is a descendant of Abraham. 2. Isaac- Abraham's son whom Abraham loved the most. God told Abraham to sacrifice his son for Him and Abraham proved his loyalty and obedience to the Lord when he obeyed God, by binding his son to the altar he made and as he was about to sacrifice the boy God stopped him and provided another sacrifice to replace Isaac. Isaac put up no resistance which indicates he was aware of the sacrifice that was made and was in agreement with it. Isaac married Rebecca and she bore him two sons-Jacob and Esau. 3. Jacob-The two brothers Jacob and Esau struggled even before birth and Jacob stuck his hand out and they put a string around it but "Esau being the stronger of the two was born first. Esau did not care for the religious and spiritual beliefs of his family but he was a good hunter which made him Isaac's favorite son. At one point, he was so hungry he sold his inheritance to his brother Jacob for a bowl of lentil soup. Rebecca favored Jacob and wanted him to receive his father's blessings. When Isaac grew old his eyes became dim. Rebecca made coverings for Jacobs arms to make him feel hairy like Esau and brought him into Isaac who then bestowed his blessing on Jacob rather than Esau. Esau was angry and Jacob fled to live with a relative when he fell in love with Rachel but had to work for 7 years and was given Leah her sister to wed and he worked 7 more years to wed Rachel. Jacob returned home sending gifts before him to his brother hoping to reconcile with him. Jacob sent his family and cattle ahead of him and he was alone when he met a man who turned out to be an Angel. Jacob wrestled with him until he received a blessing from him. The angel blessed Jacob and gave him the name Israel (Yisrael) which means the one who wrestled with God. The next day Esau went out to meet Jacob and was reunited with him. Jacob had twelve sons (the twelve tribes of Israel). Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Zebulun, Issachar, Dan, Gad, Asher, Naphtali, Joseph and Benjamin. They are the ancestors of the tribes of Israel, and the ones for whom the tribes are named. Joseph is the father of two tribes: Manasseh and Ephraim. 4. Moses Acting at God's behest, it is he who leads the Jews out of slavery, unleashes the Ten Plagues against Egypt, guides the freed slaves for forty years in the wilderness, carries down the law from Mount Sinai, and prepares the Jews to enter the land of Canaan.
