Devil tempts Jesus with Authority
The devil took Jesus to a very high place showing him the kingdoms of the world and literally told Jesus to jump off the mountain believing that the angel's would catch him. The devil quoted scripture verses to get Jesus to fall for the temptation. Then the devil said,"If you are the Son of God, throw yourself down: it is written He shall give his angels charge concerning thee; and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time you dash your foot against a stone." Jesus answered saying, "It is written, again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God." Read Matthew 4:5-7
The devil offers Jesus the world
The devil took Jesus up to a very high mountain again showing Jesus all of the kingdoms of the world. The devil told Jesus he would give the kingdoms of the world to Him if Jesus would fall down and worship him.
Then Jesus responded to the devil saying, "Get thee hence, Satan for it is written. Thou shalt worship the Lord they God and Him only shalt thou serve." Read Matthew 4:8-10

Jesus Uses The Armor of God
The temptation of Christ is a spine chilling depiction of the devil that shows that he is indeed knowledgeable in the Word of God as he tries to tempt Jesus three times using the Word of God. Jesus has more knowledge than Satan and refused the temptation using the Word of God.
Jesus overcame these temptations, even after fasting for forty days! He used the Word of God to resist temptation.
The same ways Jesus overcame the temptations set before him by the devil are the same methods we can use in our daily lives to overcome temptations that we are subjected to. Jesus used the armor of God to protect Himself. Read Ephesians 6:10-18
