Historical and Biblical facts about Thomas an Apostle of Christ:
Thomas was one of Jesus Christ's original twelve apostles. His name was Thomas in Hebrew and Didymus in Greek, although he was sometimes referred to as Judas. Later, he was referred to as "Doubting Thomas" due to the fact that he did not believe that Christ was standing in front of him (after he had been crucified) until he stuck his fingers in the holes on Jesus Christ's hands where the nails had been driven. His personality appears to be somewhat of a pessimist but with much courage because he could not believe with out seeing for himself. After seeing the holes in His hands and the gash in Christ's side Thomas's doubts were turned into belief and faith as he claimed, "My Lord and my God". There is little information about Thomas in the gospel Matthew, Mark, and Luke but John speaks of him on several occasions, such as:

Thomas is said to have died a martyr's death, killed with a spear near Madras, at Mt. St. Thomas in India.
