We now know what faith is. Faith is believing that things you pray for will happen, believing God is there and will answer, believing in Him even though we cannot see him we can see what He is doing every day. Faith is the substance of things hoped for and evidence of things not seen Hebrews 11:1 Have you ever asked God for a sign? God gives us signs and wonder's everyday. The sad part is many of us are too busy to stop and take notice of them. He paints a glorious sunrise every morning to greet us. I find myself stunned and awed by the beauty of the sunrises and the awesome sunsets. Sometimes they are so lovely it will take your breath away. I started getting up early just to see what majestic painting he has for me each day. I determined it would be a good time to pray. Most mornings I begin to pray as I watch the sun peeking over the horizon and suddenly I am speechless at the wonder's in the sky. People pray and don't believe (have faith) or they are too busy to notice the answer. People ask for signs and there are signs all around them. Just LOOK with your eye's, and hear with your heart, trust the Lord and you will see them. Many years later: I moved to a small town located on the Colorado River, with three small children. I had not been living my life for the Lord. I had three small children and a boyfriend who had brought me here. I awoke in the middle of the night to find my boyfriend wide-eyed, pale and holding a gun while standing near my bed. He said, “Baby, I need your car!” I blinked at the bright lights and stared at him in disbelief and said, “No Way! I have three small children and I just started my new job, by the way where is your car?” He proceeded to tell me a horrifying story, about how the police were chasing him and he had abandoned it! He reminded me that I did not live far from my job and could get there on my bike. Then he promised me he would get it back to me somehow or he would leave it somewhere and let me know where to pick it up. I trusted him. I told him the keys were on the dresser and to lock the door on his way out. A few moments later, someone was beating on my door. It was the Police! My boyfriend was still in the house, I was sure! The Police searched the house and did not find him. They did find the holster for his gun and a half empty cold beer on the dresser. They questioned me. Did I drink? No. Did I own a gun? No. Had I seen my boyfriend? No. Of course, I was lying and they knew it. The beer and the holster gave me away! A few days later, I got a collect call from the boyfriend with the bad news that the Police had my car. I already knew. The Police had notified me of the wild chase and told me where to pick up my car and how much I would have to pay to get it. Needless to say the boyfriend was on his way to prison. Two years later: I found a church and started to go every time the doors opened. I studied my bible and I prayed a lot. The Lord was good to me! He provided me with a promotion at work, one that I was not qualified for! Yet, I excelled at! He provided me with a lovely home and everything I needed to make it a home. My faith was growing in leaps and bounds! Yet, I was still writing back and forth with my convict boyfriend. I was overjoyed when he wrote and told me he was saved! Time passed and I was very comfortable where I was at. I went to visit the boyfriend who was now in prison, and he informed me, “God wants you to move to Mineral Wells.” I gasped in disbelief! I assured him that if God wants me to move there, God would let me know!” I got in my car and started to pray. It was a long drive back home. I prayed all the way. I went to bed and got up praying about it. I asked God to give me a sign. Something, anything, that would let me know what I should do. One evening, I was praying when Laurie, my babysitter, came into the room and let me know it was raining hard and I should roll up the windows of my car. I did, and went right back to asking God for a sign. I got up the next morning and started to get ready for work. It was still raining so I turned on the radio for the weather report. Still, I was praying and asking God for a sign. The news person said that there was a Flood Warning. I paid it no mind. Even though I lived right on the river. I was too busy to concern myself with the weather, praying to God and asking for the sign. By the time I got off work and picked my children up from school, I was in trouble. The water was coming up the boat ramps by our house. A warning siren was blasting out telling us to unleash our pets as alligators were coming up the boat ramp and eating the poor dogs right off their chains! I was horrified! Hurriedly, I got my children into the house. One of the dogs started running away from the house and we never saw him again. I fixed a quick dinner and went to my room to pray. I needed some type of sign from God. The next morning, I awoke to an emergency alarm. There was my sign, big as daylight. The town was being evacuated! I went into town and rented a small U Haul trailer, loaded what I could. The water was rising fast. If we did not get out right then, we would not be able too! I loaded my 3 small children, their nanny, our remaining dog, and everything we could get into the small u haul trailer and my old 4 door brown Dodge St. Regis. I took a moment to pray again and hated to leave the lovely home I was sure that God had given us. We evacuated, got out of town and I took that flood as a sign from God and stopped at a gas station to get a map to the town of Mineral Wells, TX. and had no choice but to trust that the Lord had prepared a place for my children, nanny and I. It was going to be a long drive with thunderstorms, tornado warnings and flooding at my back as I headed to a place I had never been and had no idea where I would stay when I got there..but I knew God was not finished with me yet. As I drove away, this verse kept coming to my thoughts and I knew the Lord was showing me the way. "Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me". Psalm 23:4 Go to Part 3 to find out what happened.
