What the Bible Says About Apostleship
Apostleship is mentioned four times in the New Testament.
Matthias chosen to replace Judas as an Apostle
During the selection of an Apostle to replace Judas Iscariot which is the Apostle who betrayed Christ. Matthias was selected by casting lots.
That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place. Acts 1:25
And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles. Acts 1:26
Paul indicates everyone has the opportunity to become an Apostle for Christ
During Paul's third missionary journey he is said to have written the book of Romans during a period when he was in Greece for three months. In the first of these Paul describes the humanity of Jesus Christ with mention of receiving apostleship for obedience to the faith and belief in Jesus Christ, seed of David, Son of God with power, the spirit of holiness and because Christ was raised from the dead
Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh; Rom. 1: 3
Jesus was declared the Son of God which has power from the Holy Spirit
And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead: Rom. 1:4
By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name: Rom. 1:5
Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ. Rom. 1:6
Paul declares his Apostleship based on Apostolic rights and obligations
Am I not an apostle? am I not free? have I not seen Jesus Christ our Lord? are not ye my work in the Lord? I Cor. 9:1
If I be not an apostle unto others, yet doubtless I am to you: for the seal of mine apostleship are ye in the Lord. I Cor. 9:2
Mine answer to them that do examine me is this, I Cor. 9:3
Have we not power to eat and to drink? I Cor. 9:4
Have we not power to lead about a sister, a wife, as well as other apostles, and as the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas? I Cor. 9:5
The Galatians churches were a direct result of Paul's missionary work.
Paul includes the Gentiles (us) as having the opportunity to become apostles for Christ
Historical evidence suggests that Galatians was written by Paul in approx. anywhere between 48-56 A. D. Paul describes the validity of his apostleship to prove that he had been called and was entitled to teach the message of truth and show that his teachings were in agreement with the other Apostles of Christ, while declaring that there is no other gospel than the gospel of Christ. During Paul's process of defending his apostleship he mentioned the circumcision revealed to Peter at the same time uncircumcision was revealed to Paul as evidence of the inclusion of Gentiles as having eligibility to become apostles.
(For he that wrought effectually in Peter to the apostleship of the circumcision, the same was mighty in me toward the Gentiles)
Gal. 2:8
Apostleship is not only available to the Lord's original "Chosen" people, (Due to the fact that they turned their backs on the Lord by worshiping false gods), people of other nationalities were given the opportunity to become apostles after Christ died for our sins and was resurrected in three days. All of us who are saved have the opportunity to become Christ's apostles.
Do it now, you can start by getting saved, baptized, and telling others about Jesus Christ.
