In order to put on the armor of light we have to stop doing wrong things, thinking wrong thoughts, stop worrying, get saved and do what God requires of us. Not necessarily in that order. Christ's return is closer than we know, so it is important that we stop doing wrong things, such as drunkenness, wantonness, strife, envying, lust, and put on the armor of the Lord Jesus Christ. so we can accomplish good things in our life.
And that, knowing the time, that now is to high time to awake out of sleep: for now is our salvation nearer than when we believed. Rom. 13:11
The armor of light we are to put on in our lives is our Lord Jesus Christ Get rid of the bad thoughts and actions by replacing them with all that is good. The more good you get inside your head and your heart the less bad can fit in there.
The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. Rom. 13:12
To Put on the Armor of Light You Must Walk Honestly Walking honestly means no drunkenness, chambering (sexual immorality, lewdness), wantonness (given to self indulgences), strife, or envy
Let us walk honestly, as in the day: not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. Rom. 13:13
The armor of light is our Lord Jesus Christ so put away the lusts of the flesh When we put on the armor of light by being saved we must deny ourselves the lusts of the flesh. Lusts of the flesh can be anything that turns you away from God's word, His laws, and His commandments. Things you may want like a new car, clothes, material things, or someone you desire can quickly overcome your thoughts if you do not control them. Your words have power, be careful what you say. Think before speaking. Control your thoughts. Bring every thought under the control of God.
But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof. Rom. 13:14
Read in Context When Jesus Christ's light shines through you, others can see it, sense it, and even be angered by it or fear the changes Christ's spirit is making in your life. Others may not be accepting of this new change in you. Many may be skeptical or think it will not last. Be patient, be strong, trust God, read, study, and pray every single day. Follow Christ's example. In time, those around you will see that what you have is real, the light that shines from within you is real. They will see you become blessed. Those who belong to Christ will recognize it and those who do not may make comments that may disturb you. Do not be discouraged. The Lord will take those who try to destroy you out of your path. He will protect you from your enemies. He will cause you to succeed. We are tried by fire, everything won't be perfect all the time until we get to heaven after Christ's return. When you allow His light to shine through you, have stood strong against tests and trials, the blessings will come as your faith in Him increases daily. Believing is half the battle. You don't have to fight the battle. The battle belongs to the Lord. Let His Armor of Light shine through you, every single day. Be blessed and not cursed.
