Jesus referred to the fig tree as a symbolic example of the End Times saying, just as you know summer is almost here when you see the fig tree branch get tender and begin to grow leaves, you should watch for the signs of the End Times and you will know the time is near and that the Son of man will be coming in the clouds.
Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When his branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is nigh: Matt. 24:32
So likewise ye, when ye shall see all these things, know that it is near, even at the doors. Matt. 24:33
Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled. Matt. 24:34
Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. Matt. 24:35
No man or angel knows the day and hour when the Lord will come. People will be eating, drinking, getting married and going on with their every day lives and will not know until Christ returns.
But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only. Matt. 24:36
But as the days of Noe were, so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matt. 24:37
For as in the days that were before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day that Noe entered into the ark, Matt. 24:38
And knew not until the flood came, and took them all away; so shall also the coming of the Son of man be. Matt. 24:39
We are instructed to watch and pray because we do not know when our Lord will return.
Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Mark 13:35
Parable of The Fig Tree in The Book of Mark: Now learn a parable of the fig tree; When her branch is yet tender, and putteth forth leaves, ye know that summer is near:Mark 13:28 So ye in like manner, when ye shall see these things come to pass, know that it is nigh, even at the doors. Mark 13:29 Verily I say unto you, that this generation shall not pass, till all these things be done. Mark 13:30 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Mark 13:31 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father. Mark 13:32 Take ye heed, watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. Mark 13:33 For the Son of Man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to every man his work, and commanded the porter to watch. Mark 13:34 Watch ye therefore: for ye know not when the master of the house cometh, at even, or at midnight, or at the cockcrowing, or in the morning: Mark 13:35 Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. Mark 13:36 And what I say unto you I say unto all, Watch. Mark 13:37 Parable of The Fig Tree in the Book of Luke: Luke 21:29 And he spake to them a parable; Behold the fig tree, and all the trees; Luke 21:30 When they now shoot forth, ye see and know of your own selves that summer is now nigh at hand. Luke 21:31 So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand. Luke 21:32 Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled. Luke 21:33 Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away. Luke 21:34 And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares. Luke 21:35 For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth. Luke 21:36 Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
