During his speaking he gave specific instructions about the Holy Spirit.Jesus said, "Nevertheless I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away, for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you.John 16:7 Jesus left the Holy Ghost (Comforter) with us to do a mighty work in His church. He finished the work He was to do in the flesh. He will return to finish the work he came to do, in the Spirit. The Holy Ghost will convict us of our sins and of righteousness "Of sin because they believe not on me;John 16:9 Of righteousness, because I go to my Father, and ye see me no more. John 16:10 We are to submit ourselves to God's righteousness For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. Romans 10:3 Righteousness comes from faith in Christ. "But the righteousness which is of faith speaketh on this wise, say not in thine heart, Who shall ascend into heaven? (that is, to bring Christ down from above:) Romans 10:6 The power of the evil one has been broken and was broken when Jesus died on the cross for our sins.Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged. John 16:11
The Holy Ghost Regenerates Us
The Holy Ghost (Spirit) regenerates us as believers and we receive the Holy Ghost when we are baptized and become born of the Spirit Jesus when speaking to Nic-o-de'-mus when he had asked how a person could be born a second time and Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.John 3: 5 That which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. John 3:6 Marvel not that I said unto thee, ye must be born again. John 3:7
Believers & Unbelievers alike can Sin Against the Holy Ghost
Jesus Accused of Blasphemy Believers and unbelievers alike can sin against the Holy Spirit (Ghost). Sinning against the Holy Spirit (Ghost) is considered as an unpardonable sin for which there is no forgiveness. Jesus was accused of this blasphemy by His enemies (the Pharisees) when he cast devils out of a man possessed with a blind and dumb devil using the Spirit of God.The man was then able to see and speak. The Pharisee's accused Him of casting out devils by the power of Satan. "And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and shall not stand: Matt. 12:25 And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand? Matt. 12;26 And if I by Be-el'-ze-bub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges. Matt. 12:27 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you. Matt. 12:28 Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house. Matt. 12:29 He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad. Matt. 12:29 When Christ left this earth He made us a promise of His Spirit that would live inside of us Not only did He save us! He did not leave us or forsake us! He did not leave us empty handed! He left His spirit with us to live in us.! The Holy Spirit has Power! The Power of the Holy Spirit is the strongest "muscle" you could ever have or imagine! Power that lives in us and works through us! And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matt. 28:18 Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Ghost: Matt 28:19. Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world Matt. 28:20
