The Sabbath Day is the seventh day of the week which is Saturday. The Lord created the Sabbath Day and commanded that we take this day of the week to rest from all of our work and to allow workers and working animals to rest also. God knows are bodies need one day a week to rest in order to function properly. Even God rests on the seventh day.
Genesis 2:2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.
Why Remember The Sabbath Day? Scientific studies show that people who rest one day a week have less health problems such as stress, high blood pressure and heart attacks. I don't know about you but I enjoy this life and world that the Lord has given us and I can see that God already knew that we would need rest for our bodies and minds at least one day a week in order to stay healthy and undergo less stress. However, the most important reason we should observe the Sabbath day is because the Lord told us to observe it until the end of time. The Sabbath Day renews our soul, mind, and body Renewing our soul, mind and body. He already knew and planned for us to take the time to replenish our strength. The Lord made a specific day as a holy day and we were commanded to keep it. According to the Hebrew calendar, Saturday is the Sabbath Day. Many people and churches have an ongoing battle over this subject and which day is the Sabbath day? Quite simply, it is obvious Saturday is the Sabbath Day (Shabbat) as clearly shown on the Jewish Calendar and even on our modern day calendar's Sunday is the first day of the week, not the seventh. The Lord made man in His image. When the Lord created the world He rested on the seventh day! Surely, if God himself needed rest after six days of work then it stands to reason that we need rest after six days too. The fact is that the Lord did not ask us to keep the Sabbath Day. The Lord told us to keep the Sabbath Day-it was not a request it was a Commandment. We are supposed to make preparations before the Sabbath Day so we will not have to work on Sabbath Day except in an emergency as demonstrated by Jesus Christ when He healed the man with the withered hand on the Sabbath Day.
