In The Second Epistle of Peter (an Apostle of Christ) describes the attributes of great Christian virtues, the sequence of Spiritual assets, as well as, the value of these assets, and Peter's appeal as he faces death. He goes on to discuss the last days referring to the transfiguration, prophetic scriptures and gives stern warnings about false teachers. Peter describes the fate of disobedient angels, the fate of Sodom and Gomorrah, as well as, the anti authoritarian nature and infiltration by false teachers. Peter goes on to explain that these false teachers are like Balaam, destitute of Spiritual life, giving tips to identify these false teachers who use learned and pretentious words to pervert Christian liberty, while turning people away from the faith. Peter also gives us interesting insights into the second coming of Christ and the day of the Lord in the last days while noting that the return of the Lord would be generally disbelieved among mankind, as well as, briefly describing the purging of the heavens and the earth.
