East of Eden: Cherubims
After Adam and Eve ate of the forbidden fruit, God cursed the serpent, Eve, and Adam for committing the first sin which caused God to put them out of the Garden of Eden so that they could not also eat from the tree of life and live forever. To make sure that they could not return to Eden God put cherubims with flaming swords which turned every way to stand guard over the garden of Eden.
Mankind now knows the difference between good and evil
And the Lord God said, Behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live forever: Gen. 3:22
God put Adam and Eve out of the Garden of Eden to till the ground that he was taken from
Therefore the Lord God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. Gen. 3:24
God placed cherubims on the east side of the garden of Eden to keep people from eating of the tree of life
So he drove out the man; and he placed at the east of the garden of Eden Cherubims, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to keep them way of the tree of life. Gen. 3:24
