It is hard to love someone you do not even know or have not personally met but it is important to understand that He loves you with a spiritual love that reaches far beyond what you have ever known here on earth. A love that reaches beyond our understanding. When learning of how Jesus Christ was sacrificed for our sins, it is impossible to not feel compassion for Him. However, learning to love God will take some effort on your part because first you have to get to know Him and what He is really about and to do that you will need to seek Him, pray to Him, study His words. As you seek, pray and study the Bible you will notice a change in your thoughts, behaviors, actions, attitudes, perceptions, and even the words you speak. Doing these things bridges the gap between you and the Lord on a spiritual level, opens spiritual doors to you, and allows you to feel the force and intensity of God's love in your heart and in your life.
You must love God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind and in order to do that you must seek Him, pray and learn everything about Him so that you can truly know Him, love Him, and develop a relationship with Him on a spiritual level. God has certain expectations of us that show Him we love Him.
And he answering said, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength, and with all thy mind; and thy neighbour as thyself. Luke 10:27
The Lord God wants you to walk in His ways, follow His example, love Him, fear Him and serve Him with all of your heart, soul and mind.
And now, Israel, what doth the LORD thy God require of thee, but to fear the LORD thy God, to walk in all his ways, and to love him, and to serve the LORD thy God with all thy heart and with all thy soul, Deut. 10:12
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Matt.22:37
Everything you do or say should reflect the glory of God. Whether you realize it or not, once you are saved and people around you find out you are saved, those people will be watching you, watching the things that you do, how you handle things, how you react to things, and listening to words you say, so it is vital that you do everything your power to live in such a way that others can see you as an example of what it is like to be loved by the Lord.
Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. I Cor. 10:31
Worshiping the Lord in spirit and in truth shows God you love Him. The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet. John 4:19 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship. John 4:20 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father. John 4:21 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews. John 4:22 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. John 4:23
God [is] a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship [him] in spirit and in truth. John 4:24
Telling others about how the Lord changed your life shows God you love Him.
Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. Rev. 14:7
Keeping God’s commandments and believing that Jesus is the Son of God who died for your sins will help you to overcome troubles in this world and demonstrates to God that you love Him.
For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous. I John 5:3
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, [even] our faith. I John 5:4
Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? I John 5:5
And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say? Luke 6:46
The Lord must come first in your life. People who put things or this world, (or people) before God or worship false gods are considered as adulterers and adulteresses who have betrayed God.
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. James 4:4
God wants you to love others as He loves you and yes He even wants you to love your enemies. John 15:12 Lev. 19:18 John 13:35 If you love me...John 14:15 John 14:23 Matt. 5:44
God is merciful. I Chr. 16:34 His mercy is on those..Luke 1:50 Because the Lord has loved...I Kin 10:9
