The Keys to Blessings Part II
The First Key to Blessings: Love God
The first key to getting your blessings is to Love thy God. as we discovered in Keys to blessings Part 1. How to love your God God does not want just a little of your attention as a demonstration to others that you love Him or that He loves you. God wants all of your love. which means if you want His blessings you are to love your God with all your heart, all your soul, and with all your might. And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul and with all thy might. Deut. 6:5 What Jesus said about loving God Jesus Christ' (God's own Son) was quite specific about how God expects you to love Him Then Jesus said unto him: Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. Matt. 22:37 This is the first and great commandment Matt. 22:39 On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. 2 Kings 23:25 Biblical Kings who showed their love for God were blessed Reading about the way others loved God gives us a good example of how God expects us to love HIM. King Josiah's love for God King Josiah loved the Lord with all of his heart, soul and might and he received many blessings from the Lord. You will notice that one of the ways King Josiah showed his love for God was to obey the laws God gave to Moses. And like unto him was there no king before him that turned to the Lord with all his heart, and with all his soul, and with all his might, according to all the law of Moses, neither after him were there any like him. 2 Kings 23:25 King Hezekiah's love for God Hezekiah reigned over Judah, loved good and showed his love for God by following the laws God gave to Moses. King Hezekiah knew that God did not like the people worshiping false gods so he had them tore down to show his love for God by not putting love for anything else before God. And he did that which was right in the sight of the Lord according to all that David his father did. II Kings 18:3 King Hezekiah removed false gods
He removed the high places and brake the images and cut down the groves, and broke in pieces the brazen serpent that Moses had made for unto those days the children of Israel did burn incense to it; and he called it Ne-hush. II Kings 18:4
King Hezekiah trusted the Lord God of Israel
He trusted in the Lord God of Israel so that after him was none like him among all the Kings of Judah nor any that were before him. II Kings 18:5
King Hezekiah showed his love for the Lord by following the Lord's Commandments-Obedience.
For he clove to the Lord, and departed not from following him but kept his commandments which the Lord commanded Moses. II Kings 18:6
King Hezekiah was prosperous because of his love, trust, loyalty and obedience to the Lord's commandments which made it evident to the Lord that King Hezekiah loved Him.
And the Lord was with him; and he prospered whithosoever he went forth, and he rebelled against the King of Asyria asnd served him not. II Kings 18:7
When we follow the Lord's statutes and commandments we are actually showing him that we love Him. In order to show our love for Him we must trust Him and follow His statutes, laws, and commandments which were made for our ultimate benefit. When we do this we become eligible to call upon Him in our time of need because of our love that we have demonstrated for the Lord just as King David did when he was about to be confronted by his enemies. King David's love for God King David received strength through his love for the Lord
I will love thee O Lord, my strength Psa. 18:1
The Lord is my rock, and my fortress, and my deliverer; my God, my strength, in whom I will trust; my buckler, and the horn of my salvatioI will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised. I shall be saved from mine enemies. Psa. 18:2
I will call upon the Lord, who is worthy to be praised. I shall be saved from mine enemies. Psa. 18:3
All of these men loved God and were obedient to God, kept God's commandments, laws, and judgements to show their love for God. This is how God wants us to show our love for Him and by showing our love for Him we will receive blessings from Him as we learned in Keys to Blessings Part 1 -The Clues to Get Your Blessings Revealed. Psalms 18:2
In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God walk in his ways and keep his commandments, and his statutes and his judgements; that thou mayest live and multiply; and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. Deut. 30:162
Clearly part of loving God is to be like Him, walk in His ways, keep His commandments, keep His statutes, and keep His judgements.
In that I command thee this day to love the Lord thy God walk in his ways and keep his commandments, and his statutes and his judgements; that thou mayest live and multiply; and the Lord thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. Deut. 30:16
