The genealogy of Jesus Christ states clearly the earthly blood lines of Jesus that start with Adam to Abraham the father of Isaac to David as recorded by Matthew whose main concern was to establish that Jesus was in fact the Jewish Messiah whose birth had been predicted and for-told of by the prophets in the Old Testament of the Holy Bible. Matthew took special pains to connect the events surrounding the birth, life and death of Jesus with the traditions of the Je
In Matthew chapter 1 we read of Jesus Christ's genealogy as written by Matthew an apostle of Jesus Christ who sought to establish the lineage of Jesus Christ as shown in prophecy. We can read about Jesus Christ's Genealogy but we should not make it a primary focus of our studies. Spend the bulk of your study time reading and studying the word of God not wasting time occupying your minds with endless genealogies which promote speculations. And not to occupy themselves with myths and endless genealogies that promote speculations rather than the divine training that is known by faith. 1 Timothy 1:4 (NRS). However, the first chapter of Matthew does more than establish Christ's lineage it also connects Christ to biblical prophecy and is the first mention of the Christ child's Holy birth and in this bible study that is what we will focus on. Genealogy of Christ stemming back through to the son of David and Abraham.

Matt. 1:17 Mary was pregnant with JESUS from the Holy Ghost long before Joseph and she had sexual relations Now the birth of Jesus Christ was on this wise: When as his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child of the Holy Ghost. Matt. 1:18 Joseph was considering the thought of having Mary put away privately so noone would know about her pregnancy Then Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not willing to make her a public example, was minded to put her away privily. Matt. 1:19 An angel of the Lord's came to Joseph in a dream telling Joseph three important things
Not be afraid to marry Mary because the unborn child was conceived from the Holy Ghost
The child should be named JESUS
This child would save his people from their sins
An Angel of the Lord told Joseph not to be afraid because the child she is carrying is the Holy Ghost But while he thought on these things, behold, the angel of the Lord appeared unto him in a dream, saying, Joseph, thou son of David, fear not to take unto thee Mary thy wife: for that which is conceived in her is of the Holy Ghost. Matt. 1:20
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins. Matt. 1:21
Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Matt. 1:22
Mary was a virgin when she became pregnant with a son whose name is Emmanuel (God with us) Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us. Matt. 1:23
Then Joseph being raised from sleep did as the angel of the Lord had bidden him, and took unto him his wife: Matt. 1:24
And knew her not till she had brought forth her first born son: and he called his name JESUS. Matt. 1:25
