When the troubles of the world start getting you down, Look to the Lord to help you because He really can. There is comfort from God in today's world. A free printable version of this study is available, just scroll down to get it.
Sometimes when trouble, grief, bills, relationship troubles, and worries of the world get you down it may seem hard (if not impossible) to find comfort.Often we seek worldly solutions to find relief and comfort, such as, drinking, drugs, food, or other distractions of this world which makes it quite difficult to find comfort from the Lord's spiritual world. This study will help you find comfort and relief from our Lord and savior Jesus Christ who suffered, died, and rose again to save us from our sins. Reading, studying, and understanding God’s word can help you survive and thrive in spite of troubles that you must deal with. Studies show that people are more likely to make poor choices during times of trouble and grief, however, they also reveal that people who give their cares to the Lord have less stress and can deal with problems head on rather than shoving them back to a dark closet in the recesses of your mind where they will be shelved and stacked on top of all of your previous and future problems which will cause even more stress, worry, and pain in the long run. The first part of finding comfort is to realize that you can not make your pain any less or your troubles any less by continuing the way you have been doing. The second part is to give your cares to God. The Lord is fully capable of taking care of whatever ails you but He cannot help you unless you let Him, as long as you believe that He can, and as long as you realize that faith without works...is dead.
Comfort during times of affliction Believe it or not, it is quite true that reading God’s word when times get rough will inspire you to overcome your troubles. This is my comfort in my affliction: for thy word hath quickened me. Psa. 119:50Quicken means to become faster, hurry, activate, stimulate, or to inspire. So it stands to reason that reading, hearing or taking in God’s word will help you by activating comfort from the Lord to ease your sorrows. The Scriptures gives us hope For whatever was written in former days was written for our instruction, that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Rom. 15:4 (ESV)For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope Rom. 15:4 Finding comfort with Jesus You can find comfort with Jesus by coming to Him when He calls, and having faith that He can and will help you just as the blind man whom Jesus healed came and was comforted because Jesus solved His problem of blindness by healing the mans eyes. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calls you. Mark 10:49 Jesus is the God of all comfort As the God of all comfort Jesus has the power and strength to comfort you, solve your problems, and heal your pains.Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; 2 Cor. 1:3 God gives strength and power to His people O God, You are awesome from Your sanctuary. Isa. 40:31 God is always there for you You yourselves have seen what I did to Egypt, and how I carried you on eagles' wings and brought you to myself. Exo. 19:4 Like an eagle that stirs up its nest and hovers over its young, that spreads its wings to catch them and carries them aloft. Deut. 32:11 How to grow stronger Nevertheless, the righteous will hold to their ways, and those with clean hands will grow stronger. Job 17:9They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion. Psa. 84:7Do not be afraid because God has given us power (strength), love, and a sound mind which are key tools when it comes to overcoming fear, pain, and tragedy. For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. 2 Tim. 1:7 Raw Power Unleashed Use the power of the Holy Spirit to overcome adversity. Get the strength and comfort you need from God today...all you really need to do is just ask Him for it.
